The full base set has 150 total cards featuring a new look from Arena Design, the team responsible for the 1997-98 Metal Universe Basketball layout. The first 100 cards are standard cards while the final 50 are part of subset titled Metal Shredders. These are modest short prints, landing every other pack.

Of course, the popular Precious Metal Gems (PMG) parallels are back in several colors.

From there, 2022 Skybox Metal Universe Champions caters to die-cut card fans with the all-new Looking to the Future (1:12 packs). These combine with A Cut Above (1:19 packs) to average two per Hobby box.

Other debuting insert options consist of 2500 Degrees (1:15 packs), Golden Touch (1:180 packs), Standout Specimen (1:900 packs), and Z-Force (1:5 packs), which honors the '90s brand.

In addition, Skybox Premium (1:5 packs) is another well-known series. The key chases here are the numbered Star editions, such as Star Emerald (#/25)
